Twelve years is a long wait. This album by Patent Pending was first released as an LP in 1988-89 and is now reissued on CD. Good thing. Patent Pending doesn't have national name recognition, but their efforts here are as good as any today. Their harmonies are tight, and Eldred Hill is excellent on lead vocals. "Will a Light Be Shining Bright Within Your Soul" alone is worth the price of the CD, and there are 11 other good cuts here
with composers from Don Reno to Don Gibson. "House of Heartbreak" and "Rufus
Taylor" are two of the gems. The group is still active with just a few personnel changes. With songs ranging from the well known ("Someone Took My Place With You") to the
self-penned, this release of the past is true bluegrass.

Country Standard Time
Patent Pending was formed in 1979 and by the mid-1980s they had recorded an album, bought a bus and played in twenty-two states. Through The Window was originally recorded for Flying Fish Records, but a decision was made to wait until the company could release the project on Compact Disc. The album was released on Webco Records WLPS 0129 in 1989. Twelve years later the project has finally been released on CD.
The title song, "Through The Window" is wonderful bluegrass. Eldred Hill and Leigh Taylor give us a super duet on "Turn The Green Hills Brown." "Peacock Rag" demonstrates the instrumental ability of Patent Pending. "Rufus Taylor," written by Mike Henderson, tells the story of a valued friend. "Future On Ice," written by Jerry rutchfield and Edria Humphrey, features some ringing bluegrass harmony singing. Edria Humphrey is the wife of Paul Humphrey, better known as Paul Williams, and she is the sister of Jimmy Martin. The classic song, "Old Country Church" has some strong quartet singing.
This is a wonderful project and certainly deserves much attention from the fans of bluegrass music.

Patent Pending, "Through the Window":
A very nice project. Will certainly get plenty of airplay on both BG and other shows. My favorites were #'s 12,8,4 & 1. Also liked #'s 2, 7, 9 & 10. Nothing I did not like on this whole CD.
And thank you Gary for all your hard work that produces all this fine music I get to play.
